What is it?
The ability to prevent attacks that network firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus filters and other solutions cannot, by limiting access to ports, encrypting the hard drive and ensuring that sensitive data is protected via Data Leakage Protection.
The Problem:
- Personal storage sites allow employees to copy data, possibly sensitive data, to the Internet
- Web mail, such as Gmail, allows employees to attach data to email message that are then encrypted, leaving the company blind to the information contained therein
- Thumb drives, iPods, iPhones, Androids and other devices allow employees to copy data to large personal storage devices, without encryption
The Solution:
Endpoint Security solutions that restrict access to local ports, encrypt the hard drive and closely monitor and/or govern the data that is allowed to be copied to external devices can alleviate many of these concerns.
