Bangladesh central bank says U.S. account hacked, recovers some funds

Bangladesh's central bank said on Monday its U.S. account had been hacked and money had been stolen from it, but that it had recovered some of the funds.

Bangladesh Bank said it had traced some of the money to the Philippines and was working with anti-money laundering authorities there.

The bank did not say how much money had been stolen and a spokesman for the bank declined any further comment.

The New York Federal Reserve, which provides banking services to several international central banks, had no immediate comment on the matter.

Bangladesh's central bank has around $28 billion in foreign currency reserves.
